Wilmington Healthcare online education offer enhanced with acquisition of Wellards
In line with its vision to be at the centre of intelligence-led healthcare, Wilmington plc has acquired JMH Publishing Ltd, trading as Wellards, a leading provider of specialist and accredited online education. The acquisition complements and further extends Wilmington Healthcare’s footprint in healthcare intelligence, both in the UK and beyond.
Established in 1990, and with more than 25,000 registered users, Wellards provides quality NHS and clinical knowledge e-learning to the pharma and medtech industries. The organisation runs over 70 online courses in areas such as market access and compliance, and in key therapy areas such as cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular health. It also manages the highly successful online training portal, Wellards Academy, which services the needs of UK pharmaceutical and medtech commercial staff.
Wilmington Healthcare is a fresh proposition, forming an umbrella for Wilmington plc companies Binley’s, NHiS and OnMedica. The organisation enables better engagement with healthcare professionals, supporting service redesign and helping develop stronger, closer relationships in pursuit of better patient care.
Wellards will become the principal education and training platform for Wilmington Healthcare and deliver its knowledge solutions, both in the UK and in mainland Europe.
director of Wilmington plc’s Insight Division, said: "The customer environment
for pharma and medtech has become increasingly complex. The bringing together
of Wellards strategic education solutions with class leading healthcare
intelligence from Binley’s and NHiS is a natural evolution of the Wilmington Healthcare
portfolio. It will enable our customers to develop more sophisticated stakeholder
relationships, fit for today’s NHS market place and to demonstrate a real
contribution to outcomes."
John Heath, founder and CEO of Wellards,
who will remain with the business for a transitional period, commented: "I’m delighted that Wellards is now part of
Wilmington Healthcare. For many years we have worked closely with Binley’s,
providing customers with the knowledge and insight needed to interpret the
practical value of the Binley’s resources. This acquisition is a very natural
extension of our partnership and I’m looking forward to developing new services
which will further enhance the product portfolio of both companies.”
