Getting to know the NHS PharmaTimes February 2011

The recent Health & Social Care Bill 2011 confirmed the proposed reform set out in last year’s White Paper Equity and excellence: Liberating the NHS so it appears that all of the NHS reform planned for the next four years is starting to come together and progress.

So what’s next? The second wave of pathfinder commissioning consortia is currently being established but primary care trusts will continue to be in existence until April 2013 when they are expected to be abolished.  At this point all contracts with providers will be taken over by the GP commissioning consortia. The NHS Commissioning Board will be established in shadow form in April this year with a view to it taking over responsibilities from strategic health authorities in April 2012. But what does this all mean to us?

To help pharma companies better understand the NHS reform, Binley’s is running a series of one-day learning programmes at Austin Court, Birmingham.  Chaired by industry-renowned experts, these events look at changes to structure, policy and finance in the NHS and explores the impact it will have on those who work in and with the NHS.
